Home safe basics
Safe build and features determine the level of burglary protection a safe provides. Aspects like steel and concrete composite construction, bolt quality, and technical burglary deterrents all contribute to how easy a safe is to break into. A real risk with safes is that instead of trying to break into the safe wherever it is placed, a thief will steal the entire safe and take to a location that they are able to use all manner of power tools to break in. This is why we strongly recommend anchoring your safe in place. A well-anchored safe is nearly impossible to move.
There is almost no standardization of fire protection claims across the safe industry, which can leave consumers frustrated and confused. To combat this, we only sell safes through Cocono with fire ratings have been independently verified. Read more about fire ratings here. Our Cocono 20 and 40 safes have the best small and medium fire safe rating.
A good lock should be easily accessible by the safe owner but difficult to hack by any unauthorized user. We only source locks that meet our high standards for reliability and security. When selecting locks, think about if you prefer a biometric fingerprint and keypad lock, a digital keypad lock, or a mechanical combination lock. Our Classic and Chroma lines have hybrid locks: locks that operate either via fingerprint or digital keypad, for fast, reliable access every time.
